An Interview with Author Dr. Naaz Jahan Shaikh

  • When did you discover your love for writing?
Seeing my children grow up, I enjoyed writing for them. Slowly I discovered I could write for myself too.
  • What drives you to write or who inspires you?
It is just a thought that strikes in the mind at some point of time.
  • Which genre do you prefer to write about?
From nature to people, news and our medical subject I pen down whatever comes to my mind.
  • How long does it take you to write the book “Under The Green Leaf”?
This is a collection of poems from maybe around 5 to 6 years.
  • Tell us more about “Under The Green Leaf”?
This is a collection of poems covering the essence of life. Here every emotion and every character is weaved into verses. Life itself is a miracle which differentiates us from the non-living objects, nevertheless each non living object also has its own importance which get a life when incorporated in poetry.
  • What are your thoughts on ‘Storytelling is an art’?
Yes indeed. I have not yet ventured. Will try my quill someday.
  • Do you like reading? If yes, please tell us about your favourite authors and books?
With my busy practice I do not find much time. I like to read books on people’s experiences. The monk who sold his Ferrari has given me a lot of insights. The white tiger by Anand Adiga is another book close to my heart. The wings of fire by A.P.J. Abdul Kalam is another book that inspired me.
  • Do you have any message for your readers?
Appreciate the little things around you and admire every person who you come across. It brings a lot of positivity around you.
  • What’s your message to budding/ aspiring writers?
Keep the quill handy. Pen down your thoughts before they become volatile. Every language has its beauty. Immerse yourself into this ocean of words, pick them and put them in the right place.
  • Lastly, how was your experience working with us?
The entire team of InkQuills was very responsive and encouraging. Mr Abhisar was always present to do the corrections any number of times. Though it was a short time he did a fabulous work to help publish my first book. I express my sincere gratitude to the entire team of InkQuills. 😊

So that was Dr. Naaz. Thank you for taking out time and interacting with us.
Wishing her good luck for future.
