An Interview with Author Suchismita Ghoshal

  • When did you discover your love for writing?
I guess I am a born writer. To be honest, I have been a very observative soul since my childhood and gradually my observation and knowledge resulted into scribbling emotions on my diary. It was five years back in 2016 when I wrote my first quote and from then, I never looked back.
  • What drives you to write or who inspires you?
I am a very keen soul. My endless inquisition on my surrounding, on the beauty of the nature, the exhilaration of kindness and obviously the knowledge gained from the plenty of books drive me a lot to write.
  • Do you like reading? If yes, please tell us about your favourite authors and books?
Of course I love reading. Reading is the source of my utmost happiness. I have always been inspired by the greatest legends of literary field like Rabindranath Tagore, Sharat Chandra Chattapadhyay, J.K.Rowling and others. I have been growing up reading their books. Even modern authors like Sudha Murthy, Arundhati Roy, Shashi Tharoor etc inspire me a lot. They literally sweep me off my feet through their unimaginable literary talents.
  • What do you prefer writing – poetry/short stories/prose and why ?
Basically it depends on my state of mind. I never pressurize myself to write. I am a natural writer and wait for the thoughts to knock my door. And even I would suggest the newbies to follow their hearts and write when they feel like writing. If I am to choose among them, I am absolutely a poetry person. My heart is inclined to poetries as it naturally comes to me. Besides, I writer short stories, proses and quotes too. In a word, I am a lover of any genre.
  • What’s your thoughts on storytelling platforms or open mic? Have you every participated in them.
I am very much shook to witness that there are a lot of platforms for writers and authors now-a-days to uplift their inner talents. I feel so encouraged and personally adore the great efforts and ideas behind providing the platforms. Open mic is another example of tracing the gems among us and giving them the voice to express. It definitely can be a good opportunity to gain the limelight or fame. I have also patricipated in both online open mics and on stage and gained immense experience from them. Well, I guess I still need to explore more and polish myself more.
  • Every month there are so many calls for the anthology, how you choose the anthology?
As I pre-said inspirational things attract more, I found the theme intriguing and chose to participate in this book as soon as I came across the title. And indeed, it was a very good decision from my end!
  • Do you have any near plans for writing your full-length novel or poetry book?
I have a hefty baggage of plans to enhance my writing career. I have plans to write novel when I shall be a little bit experienced in the writing arena and poetry is my soul’s delight, so I am right now focusing more on poetry now.
  • Apart from writing, what other things you prefer doing?
Apart from writing, I am very much fond of reading, sketching, watching quality movies, listening to good music, and just enjoy the silence of the nature. All of them helps me to overcome my anxiety and negativity and enlightens me to grow. I love these ways of healing.
  • Do you have any message for your readers?
    To my dear readers,
All I am right now is just because of you. From writing good contents, inviting creative thoughts, staying positive and motivated to emerging as a budding author are only because of your constant love, support and blessings. Please, never stop showering love, keep supporting, stay positive and stay lovely as always. I need all of you to keep going in this long run of life. And I love you all from the core of my heart.
  • What’s your message to budding/ aspiring writers?
    Write. Write. Write. And write.
Never stop following your hearts. Never get demotivated and stay strong even if you feel the ground beneath your feet is escalating. Focus on your writing. Your only competition is you, so improve your skills and read good books. Reading does the 80% work of writing. Be kind and be honest to yourself. Stay happy.
